Strong Kids Campaign

The YMCA is committed to teaching children life’s valuable lessons and being a positive part of family life in Greater Pittston.  The Annual Giving Campaign helps give children of all backgrounds and incomes an opportunity to reach their potential. Each year the campaign kicks off in February and runs through May.

Kids are in the news a lot these days and not necessarily for the right reasons. More than ever, kids need what the YMCA can give them - tools to help them develop positive values and healthy lifestyles. Now, you can help us reach our goal.  Our policy is to never turn anyone away from the YMCA just because they can’t pay. Often, those are the kids and people who need us most and the number continues to grow. That’s why each year we count on you. Your contribution helps the YMCA achieve our goal of being a positive part of family life in Luzerne County.

Each year we award over $200,000 in financial assistance programs to more than 400 people, mostly children, in the Greater Pittston community. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, local children and families will have the opportunity to enjoy youth sports, aquatics, summer day camp, family programs, experience the great outdoors, learn new skills, receive safe child care, become teen leaders and make new friends.

The Heritage Club

Our children are our future, and what we give

them is their heritage. Those who contribute to

the Heritage Club Endowment Fund of the

Greater Pittston YMCA become an integral part
of that heritage.

The Heritage Club recognizes those who show long-term interest, commitment and support of the Greater Pittston YMCA. You can become a member either through a direct contribution to the Endowment Fund or by including the YMCA in your estate planning.

 Planned Giving Opportunities include:

Outright Gifts
Make an immediate contribution of cash or securities to the Greater Pittston YMCA  Endowment Fund and take a charitable deduction as provided by law.

Wills
Include the YMCA in a will and reduce estate taxes. Specific assets, fixed amounts, or a percentage of your estate may be specified. Another option is to name the YMCA as recipient of your estate after all bequests and expenses.

Appreciated Assets
Contribute an appreciated asset, such as real estate, to the Greater Pittston YMCA  and receive a charitable deduction equal to the current market value of the asset without incurring a capital gain tax.

Insurance
Name the YMCA as the owner or contingent beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy.

Charitable Trust
Establish a gift with life income retained by you, such as a charitable remainder unitrust, annuity trust, or participate in a pooled income fund.

Charitable Gift Annuity
Fund a charitable gift annuity and receive a stable and predictable income for your lifetime, as well as a current charitable income tax deduction for the value of the remainder interest to the Greater Pittston YMCA.
